Colorado football is already thinking ahead. While freshman QB Julian Lewis is set to lead the Buffaloes for the foreseeable future, head coach Deion Sanders and his staff are wasting no time building for what comes next.
On Tuesday, the program extended an offer to 2028 quarterback Hudson West, a rising talent out of Sarasota High School in Florida. At just a sophomore, West already boasts an impressive 6-foot-5, 180-pound frame—the kind of physical tools that catch the eye of top programs. He's already drawn interest from Power 4 schools like Florida State, and that list is only growing.
West's sophomore season stats speak for themselves: 2,549 passing yards and 22 touchdowns, averaging 258 yards per game. That performance led his district in 7A classification and ranked him No. 11 across the entire state of Florida—no small feat in a state known for producing elite quarterback talent.
Beyond the stat sheet, West has turned heads at national 7-on-7 camps and made visits to SMU, Auburn, and Maryland this past winter. Colorado's offer adds to a growing collection, meaning the Buffs will need to stay aggressive if they want to land him for their 2028 class.
It's worth noting that Colorado already has a 2027 quarterback commit in four-star Andre Adams, who's been actively recruiting other prospects to join him in Boulder. The future of Colorado football under center looks bright, and with Sanders at the helm, the program is clearly planning for sustained success.
For Buffaloes fans, this is a reminder that the program is building not just for the next season, but for the next generation of players who could one day wear the black and gold.
