The Colonel Crawford boys' track team proved once again why they are the team to beat in the Northern 10 Conference, defending their league title with a commanding performance that left competitors in the dust. The Eagles soared to victory by nearly 50 points, showcasing depth and dominance across events at the championships hosted by Carey High School on May 15.
Roen Thew led the charge for Colonel Crawford, powering through the pack in the 110-meter hurdles with the kind of precision that defines championship-caliber athletes. The Eagles' success wasn't limited to the track—Dom Dean made his mark in the shot put, demonstrating strength and technique that contributed to the team's overwhelming point total.
On the girls' side, however, the story took a different turn. Colonel Crawford's reign at the top came to an unexpected end, as their long-standing dominance was finally challenged. Despite strong individual performances—Brynn Bruner and Rylinn Edgington racing stride-for-stride in the 1600-meter run, and Grace Lash clearing hurdles with grace in the 100-meter event—the team couldn't hold onto their crown.
The meet was filled with standout moments from across the conference. Buckeye Central's Collin Perry soared in the high jump, while Bucyrus's Ivan Pirnstill showed incredible form in the pole vault. Wynford's Ezra Roth also impressed in the high jump, and Logan Wright unleashed a powerful throw in the shot put. In the distance events, Bucyrus's Karter Boggs ran a strong solo 1600-meter, and Dashawn Cosey showcased speed in the 400-meter dash. Wynford's Willa Johnson rounded out the competition with a swift 200-meter dash.
For fans of track and field, this championship was a reminder of the relentless spirit and athleticism that defines high school sports—whether you're celebrating a title defense or regrouping for next season, every race, jump, and throw tells a story of dedication.
