College Basketball TV Ratings: Most-watched men’s teams of the 2025-26 season

The 2025-26 men's college basketball season wasn't just a win for the teams on the court—it was a massive victory for TV networks. Following a regular season surge, NCAA Tournament viewership soared, culminating in a Final Four that captured the nation's attention. The teams that battled their way to the final weekend naturally became the season's biggest television draws.

According to final Nielsen data, which tracked games across major networks like ABC, CBS, ESPN, FOX, and TNT, the top five most-watched teams perfectly mirror the sport's biggest stories of the year.

Claiming the top spot are the national champion Michigan Wolverines. In Dusty May's second year, Michigan ended a decades-long drought, winning its first title since 1989 by defeating UConn. That championship game itself was the season's most-watched event, drawing 18.3 million viewers. Their Final Four victory over Arizona, which pulled in 14.29 million, was the second-largest audience. This one-two punch of massive games cemented Michigan as the undisputed king of the ratings.

Finishing second in viewership is a program synonymous with national interest: the Duke Blue Devils. Consistently a ratings magnet, Duke played in three of the season's top ten most-watched games. Their thrilling Elite Eight loss to UConn led the way, averaging over 13.4 million viewers. Strong performances in the tournament against TCU and St. John's, along with a top regular-season showdown against Arkansas on Thanksgiving, kept the Blue Devils in the national spotlight all year long.

The third spot belongs to the powerhouse that fell just short of a historic three-peat. The UConn Huskies, who came agonizingly close to a third national title in four years, participated in three of the year's four most-watched games. Beyond the title game loss to Michigan, their Final Four win over Illinois captivated 14.16 million viewers, proving their status as a must-watch team regardless of the opponent.
