In what's shaping up to be a major transfer twist, Liverpool look set to lose out on a promising defensive target after a rival Premier League club made a "significant" offer for him.

According to RMC Sport, Crystal Palace have tabled a substantial bid for Paris FC center-back Moustapha Mbow, hoping to beat the Reds to his signature. The 26-year-old Senegalese defender has been turning heads with his commanding performances in Ligue 1, and his future is expected to be resolved this summer amid intense interest.

Liverpool have been monitoring Mbow closely, making inquiries about the terms required to secure his services. However, they have yet to formalize their interest with an actual offer, preferring instead to wait in the wings. This cautious approach appears to stem from the unresolved situations of current Liverpool defenders Ibrahima Konaté and Joe Gomez, whose futures at Anfield remain uncertain.

The Reds' hesitation could prove costly. Palace, eager to fill the void left by Marc Guéhi's potential departure, have moved decisively. West Ham United and Fulham have also submitted concrete bids, with the Hammers reportedly leading the race after taking "concrete steps" to land Mbow for an estimated €10–15 million.

Mbow has enjoyed a standout debut season in France's top flight, captaining Paris FC and logging 31 appearances with nine clean sheets. Standing at an imposing 6ft 4in, he demonstrated his defensive prowess with a remarkable 18 clearances in a single match against AS Monaco in April. His consistent displays have even caught the eye of Senegal head coach Pape Thiaw, who is considering him for a potential 2026 World Cup call-up.

For Liverpool fans hoping to see fresh defensive reinforcements, the message is clear: if the club truly wants Mbow, they'll need to act fast—before Palace or another rival snatches him away for good.
