Liverpool's midfield rebuild is set to take center stage this summer, and they may have their sights set on one of Europe's most exciting young talents. The Reds are reportedly considering a move for FC Porto's Victor Froholdt—but the Portuguese club's valuation has raised more than a few eyebrows.

The 20-year-old Danish midfielder has taken Portuguese football by storm since his €20 million move from FC Copenhagen last summer. In his debut season, Froholdt has become a "key piece" under manager Francesco Farioli, registering eight goals and seven assists across all competitions. His 7.34 FotMob rating in Liga Portugal places him among the league's top box-to-box midfielders, with standout performances including a goal in a 2-1 victory over Tondela in April.

Liverpool's interest comes as part of a broader midfield overhaul that began with Ryan Gravenberch's new mega-contract. With Curtis Jones and Alexis Mac Allister both linked with potential departures, the Reds are clearly looking to refresh their engine room. But here's where things get complicated.

Porto have no intention of selling their rising star—unless a club triggers his €85 million release clause. According to Portuguese outlet Correio da Manhã, club officials consider that price tag "ridiculous" and believe any club paying it would be suffering from a serious case of "headloss." After all, quadrupling the fee paid just one season ago for a player with only one top-flight campaign under his belt is certainly a bold move.

Then again, the transfer market has seen crazier deals. As Liverpool continue their midfield evolution, the question remains: will they be the ones to take the plunge on Froholdt, or will they look elsewhere for more sensible value?
