In a tense extra-inning battle, the Hayfield Vikings baseball team fell 6-2 to the Cleveland Clippers in a nine-inning contest on Tuesday. The Vikings, who entered the game with a solid 4-2 record, saw a crucial opportunity slip away in the fourth inning when they loaded the bases with no outs but failed to bring a run home.

The game remained tight until the decisive ninth inning, where the Clippers' offense came alive. Cleveland capitalized on a combination of timely hits, a costly Hayfield error, and several walks to plate four runs and secure the victory.

Hayfield's pitching staff delivered a strong effort for much of the game. Starter Kael Steele was excellent, tossing 6.2 innings with eight strikeouts while allowing zero earned runs. The bullpen, however, couldn't hold off the late Cleveland rally in the extended affair.

At the plate, Axel Meek led the Vikings' offense, going 3-for-4 with a double. Kael Steele and Austin Dahle also contributed extra-base hits, with Dahle driving in a run. Despite the solid individual performances, the team couldn't string together the key hits needed to overcome the Clippers' late surge.
