The Cleveland Browns have officially placed linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah on the reserve/physically unable to perform list due to a neck injury, effectively ruling him out for the entire 2025 season. This news comes as a tough blow for a player who already missed the entire 2024 campaign after sustaining the injury during a game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Owusu-Koramoah, now 26, is taking this time to focus on his future off the field. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in public policy at the prestigious Harvard Kennedy School this fall—a testament to his dedication both on and off the gridiron.
A standout product of Notre Dame, Owusu-Koramoah has been a key defensive piece for the Browns since being drafted. Over 49 career games, he has amassed impressive stats: eight sacks, 205 solo tackles, 40 tackles for loss, and 14 quarterback hits. His performance earned him a Pro Bowl selection in 2023, and just last August, the Browns showed their faith in him by signing a three-year extension worth up to $39 million.
This setback adds to a challenging period for Cleveland, which finished a disappointing 5-12 last season. The team is also undergoing a coaching change, with Todd Monken taking over after Kevin Stefanski was fired and subsequently hired as the new head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.
While fans will miss seeing Owusu-Koramoah's explosive play on the field, his commitment to education and recovery shows the resilience that made him a fan favorite. For now, the Browns will look to regroup and build for the future without one of their most dynamic defenders.
