In a hard-fought series finale at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, the Clemson Tigers fell 6-3 to No. 12 Florida State on Sunday afternoon, dropping the three-game ACC series 2-1. Despite a late push, the Tigers couldn't overcome an early deficit, moving to 30-22 overall and 9-18 in conference play.
Florida State starter Bryson Moore delivered a masterful performance on the mound, tossing six strong innings to improve to 6-1 on the season. The right-hander allowed just five hits, one run, and one walk while striking out four. Brodie Purcell closed things out with 1.1 innings of relief to earn his third save of the year. On the other side, Clemson's Aidan Knaak struggled to find his rhythm, surrendering four runs on eight hits over four innings, dropping to 2-6 on the season.
The Seminoles struck first and fast, with Nathan Cmeyla launching a leadoff home run off the right-field foul pole in the second inning. The rally didn't stop there—Carter McCulley added a run-scoring single, and John Stuetzer followed with a sacrifice fly to cap a three-run frame. McCulley then flexed his power again in the fourth, crushing a solo home run to extend Florida State's lead.
Clemson showed fight in the fifth, scratching a run across on Jack Crighton's perfectly executed squeeze bunt. But Florida State answered right back with an unearned run in the sixth. The Tigers capitalized on multiple Seminole errors in the seventh to pull within striking distance, and Jarren Purify—who led the team with three hits—slapped a two-out single in the eighth to score another run. However, Florida State's Brody DeLamielleure grounded a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth to keep the Tigers at bay.
With the regular season winding down, Clemson now hits the road for a midweek matchup against USC Upstate on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Fifth Third Park in Spartanburg, S.C.—a historic first-ever visit to the new venue. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
