Big news out of Storrs: the UConn Huskies have landed their first commitment for the Class of 2027, and it's a dynamic playmaker who can do it all. Dae’sean Graves, a wide receiver from Holy Cross High School in Waterbury, Connecticut, announced his pledge to the Huskies on Wednesday night via X.
Graves chose UConn over offers from Syracuse, Wake Forest, UMass, and Liberty—a testament to his rising stock in the Northeast recruiting scene. And his production on the field certainly backs up the hype.
As a sophomore in the 2024-2025 season, Graves was a force, hauling in 74 receptions for 1,215 yards and 18 touchdowns over 10 games. That performance earned him top-5 status in Connecticut and a spot among the top-222 receivers nationally in receiving yards.
He followed that up with an even more impressive junior campaign in 2025-2026, helping Holy Cross to an 8-4 record. In 12 games, the 6-foot-plus target snagged 80 catches for 1,149 yards and 20 touchdowns, averaging a solid 14.4 yards per catch.
But Graves isn't just a one-trick pony. On defense, he's logged 93 tackles, four interceptions, and a sack in 22 games as a free safety. And on special teams, he's a game-breaker: over his sophomore and junior seasons, he returned 22 kicks for 133 yards and added 339 yards on punt returns. In his junior year alone, he averaged 31.6 yards per punt return—good for second in the state of Connecticut.
For UConn fans, Graves represents the kind of versatile, explosive talent that can help elevate the program. And with two years of high school ball still ahead, the best may be yet to come.
