City have etched their name deeper into the history books, becoming just the second club ever to win two domestic cup doubles after a thrilling FA Cup victory over Chelsea. The 1-0 triumph at Wembley on Saturday sealed our eighth FA Cup title, adding to the League Cup we lifted earlier this season.
This achievement puts City in an elite group. Only four clubs have ever won both the League Cup and FA Cup in the same season, and City now join Liverpool as the only teams to do it twice—following our historic 2018/19 campaign when we swept all four major trophies in English football. Arsenal (1992/93) and Chelsea (2006/07) are the other sides to have accomplished the feat once.
The victory also marks Pep Guardiola's 20th trophy since arriving at City in 2016, with five coming in the League Cup and three in the FA Cup. Guardiola now holds the record for most League Cup wins by any manager, while City's incredible run of four consecutive League Cup titles between 2018 and 2021 remains unmatched.
Our consistency in knockout competitions has been remarkable. City are the first team ever to reach eight consecutive FA Cup semi-finals and four straight finals. Under Guardiola, no side has won more League Cup ties (29) or FA Cup matches (46) than City.
With six Premier League titles also under our belt during Guardiola's tenure, this team has achieved an unprecedented level of success across all competitions, deep into every season. Congratulations to Pep, his staff, and the players on another monumental achievement—one that fans will remember for years to come.
