A legal matter involving Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua, accused of biting a woman on the shoulder, is moving forward.

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is facing a legal hurdle off the field, as a case involving an alleged biting incident continues to move through the legal system. According to Ivor Pine, Deputy Director of Communications for the City Attorney's Office, the matter has been assigned for a hearing, and a pretrial diversion program may be an option for eligible individuals as an alternative to misdemeanor prosecution.

Pine confirmed via email on Monday that no formal charges have been filed against Nacua at this time, and the case remains open within the statute of limitations. The pretrial diversion program, if successfully completed, could prevent the case from going to trial. However, it remains unclear whether Nacua qualifies for this alternative.

The incident dates back to December 31, when Nacua allegedly bit a woman on the shoulder following a group dinner in Los Angeles' Century City area. The woman filed a civil lawsuit with the Superior Court of Los Angeles County on March 25, also accusing the Rams star of making an antisemitic statement during the dinner. She is seeking damages for assault and battery, gender violence, and negligence.

On the field, Nacua has been a standout performer for the Rams. He earned First-Team All-Pro honors last season, his third in the NFL, following a stellar rookie campaign in 2023 that earned him Second-Team All-Pro recognition. As the legal process unfolds, fans will be watching closely to see how this off-field situation develops.
