The Reds revealed a new uniform set on Thursday.

The Cincinnati Reds may have dropped an 8-1 decision to the Miami Marlins on Thursday, but the day was far from a total loss for the franchise. Before the first pitch, the team unveiled its highly anticipated City Connect 2.0 uniform set, a bold new look the squad will debut this Saturday at home against the Los Angeles Angels.

This isn't just another alternate jersey; it's a statement piece. Reds senior vice president of brand and content, Ralph Mitchell, detailed the design philosophy, which centers on a powerful, all-red ensemble featuring a classic white "C" logo. "We thought all red just makes too much sense," Mitchell explained. The commitment to the color is profound, with the uniform reportedly incorporating five distinct shades of red sourced from Nike's entire library.

The iconic "C" logo, which first appeared on the 2023 City Connect uniforms, returns with black accents on the chest and cap. Mitchell emphasized the significance of this choice, noting, "We hadn’t recreated that ‘C’ logo in over 100 years -- not to that extent. We had no interest in recreating another brand extension exercise." Early feedback has been promising, with Mitchell adding, "I know the response from our players at Spring Training was very positive. They all really loved it."

Fans will have plenty of opportunities to see the new kits in action, as the Reds plan to wear the City Connect 2.0 uniforms for every Saturday home game for the remainder of the season, blending fresh style with classic Cincinnati baseball tradition.

The uniform reveal provided a bright spot on a tough day on the field, which snapped a positive run for the team. Entering the four-game series in Miami on a three-game winning streak, the Reds secured victories on Monday and Tuesday before dropping the final two contests. Rookie starter Rhett Lowder took his first loss of the season on Thursday, though the offense did provide a highlight with a 409-foot solo blast from Sal Stewart in the fifth inning.
