The rain began to fall after the Reds escaped a bases loaded jam in the top of the sixth inning when Detroit pinch-hitter Kerry Carpenter lined into a double play. In the bottom of the sixth, the Reds got a run back on a Nathaniel Lowe solo homer to right field off of Tigers' reliever Kyle Finnegan.
The tarp was brought onto the field right after Finnegan struck out Ke'Bryan Hayes to end the sixth.
