The Cincinnati Bearcats men's golf team is heading back to the NCAA Regional for the first time since 2023, and this time, they're packing their bags for Texas. The team has been selected to compete at The Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas, from May 18-20, marking a significant milestone in their season.

Here's how it works: the low five teams and the low individual from each regional will advance to the championship finals. A total of 30 teams and six individuals will compete for the national title from May 29-June 3 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. It's a grueling path, but the Bearcats are ready to rise to the challenge.

"You start every year with a goal of playing in the postseason," said UC head coach Doug Martin, reflecting on the journey. "I look back to 20 years ago when we started this thing and all the players who have played for me. This is a day that comes from a lot of hard work from a lot of people. It's an exciting day for our University, athletic department, administration, donors and everybody who supports us. It's a day for them to celebrate but, over the next week or so, it's about us getting in the right mindset to go there and compete."

This will be the Bearcats' second NCAA appearance in program history. In 2023, they finished eighth at the NCAA Las Vegas Regional, and two current players—Ryan Ford and Rylan Wotherspoon—were part of that team as freshmen. Ford tied for 30th at Bear's Best, while Wotherspoon tied for 44th. That experience could prove invaluable as the team looks to improve on their previous showing.

The Bearcats have been on a roll this season, posting five top-five team finishes and winning the Bearcat Invitational back in September. Leading the charge is Ryan Ford, who boasts a team-best 70.15 scoring average with four top-10 finishes and all 11 of his tournament results inside the top 20. Sophomore Leo Wessel and senior Connor McNeely have also been consistent, playing in all 11 tournaments and posting scoring averages of 72.00 and 73.27, respectively. Freshman Brayden Miller has been a standout, playing in all but one tournament and ranking third on the team with a 72.06 stroke average.

The Miami RedHawks will join the Bearcats in the regional, adding a local rivalry flavor to the competition. With a strong lineup and postseason experience under their belts, the Bearcats are poised to make some noise in Texas.

For fans looking to gear up like the Bearcats, now is the perfect time to stock up on Cincinnati golf apparel and accessories. Whether you're hitting the links or cheering from the stands, show your support as the team chases a spot in the national finals.
