Christian Lundgaard is viewing a recent setback as a chance to strengthen his team's bond. The Arrow McLaren driver saw a potential victory slip away at Barber Motorsports Park due to a costly pitstop error, forcing him to settle for second behind Alex Palou.

Despite the frustration of missing a golden opportunity for his second career IndyCar win, Lundgaard's season remains on a strong trajectory. Currently sitting third in the championship standings with two podiums in the first four rounds, the 24-year-old Dane is optimistic.

He believes the bye week following the Barber race provided a crucial reset. "I think it is a good thing that we have a break afterwards for all of us to sort of unite and just talk it through," Lundgaard said during a media call, framing the moment as a team-building exercise rather than a point of division.

The performance in Alabama was a pleasant surprise for the #7 Chevrolet team. Lundgaard admitted that after qualifying tenth, a fight for the win wasn't on his radar. "There was no indication... that we were going to be so strong on Sunday," he said, highlighting the unpredictable nature of IndyCar racing where race-day setups can transform a weekend.

Now, the focus shifts to the streets of Long Beach, a circuit where Lundgaard finished third last year. With the team seemingly united and a fast car underneath him, he aims to convert his consistent podium pace into a visit to victory lane, continuing his impressive start with his new team.
