Chris Bassitt may have signed with a new team, but his biggest critics at home aren't buying it. The veteran pitcher recently left the Toronto Blue Jays in free agency to join the Baltimore Orioles, swapping one bird for another. However, his kids are having none of it.

In a lighthearted moment with reporters on Monday, Bassitt shared that his children are "confused" by his new cap. According to MLB.com's Ayako Oikawa, the little ones keep pointing out, "That's not the Blue Jays." A sharp observation from the youngest members of the Bassitt household.

This offseason, Toronto showed little interest in re-signing the 37-year-old, largely due to a deep pitching staff. That left Bassitt to explore other options, and he landed with the Orioles, staying in the AL East. It's a division he knows well, but the transition hasn't been seamless.

After three seasons with the Blue Jays—including a standout 2023 campaign where he posted a 3.60 ERA and 16 wins—Bassitt is off to a slower start in Baltimore. Through six starts, his ERA sits at 5.46. But given his track record as a durable, reliable starter, the Orioles are confident he'll find his rhythm soon.

Still, you have to wonder: could the missing Blue Jay on his hat be messing with his mojo? For now, Bassitt's kids are the ones keeping him grounded—and reminding him which bird he once belonged to.
