Inter Milan may have already secured the Serie A title, but Cristian Chivu insists there's no room for complacency as the Nerazzurri prepare to face Lazio today at the Stadio Olimpico (17:00 UK time). With the Coppa Italia Final looming—a rematch against the same Lazio side on Wednesday—Chivu is demanding full focus from his squad.

"This is a Serie A match, not the Coppa Italia," Chivu told DAZN Italia. "We need to honor this competition and stick to our principles. Even as champions, we must respect every game."

The stakes couldn't be higher for Inter. After clinching the Scudetto with three matches to spare, they're chasing a historic Double—something the club hasn't achieved since Jose Mourinho's iconic Treble in 2010. A win today would build momentum ahead of Wednesday's cup final, where Inter could add more silverware to an already stellar season.

Chivu is expected to rotate his lineup, giving rare starts to midfielders Davide Frattesi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. But all eyes will be on captain Lautaro Martinez, who returns to the starting XI after a recent muscular injury. The Argentine striker came off the bench against Parma last week, showing promising signs of recovery.

"Lautaro looked sharp in that cameo," Chivu noted. "We're hoping to get him an hour or so today to build match fitness. Marcus Thuram starts alongside him because Lautaro needs his teammate right now—they complement each other perfectly."

The partnership between Martinez and Thuram has been a key driver of Inter's success this season, with their chemistry creating countless scoring opportunities. Against a Lazio side that will be equally motivated ahead of the cup final, that connection could prove decisive.

Adding to the day's significance, the Inter squad, coaching staff, and directors met with Pope Leo at the Vatican this morning—a fitting moment of reflection before a crucial double-header that could define their season.
