When you're a free agent and the league's best quarterback is keeping tabs on your market, it's hard not to take notice. That's exactly the dynamic at play in Kansas City, where new Chiefs running back Kenneth Walker III is already feeling the pull of Patrick Mahomes' influence.

In a recent appearance on Kay Adams' show, Walker opened up about how Mahomes' presence shaped his decision to join the defending champions. "I feel like it would have had a lot to do with it, you know, he's the best quarterback in the league," Walker said. "So, I feel like he's got a lot of power in there. I'm glad he does because I'm here now."

The chemistry-building has already begun. Walker emphasized that the two have been working diligently on their connection, particularly in the passing game. "We've been working on getting connected in the passing game and everything, so that's good. I feel like I'll be used more in the pass game," he noted. "He's really good at being detailed with the whole team, and that chemistry is going to keep building."

It's a promising development for Chiefs fans. Last season with the Seattle Seahawks, Walker rushed for 1,027 yards and five touchdowns while also proving a reliable target out of the backfield with 31 receptions for 282 yards. Now, he's stepping into a backfield led by a quarterback who reportedly kept in close contact with general manager Brett Veach throughout the Super Bowl run, monitoring Walker's availability.

The investment is substantial. Walker signed a three-year deal worth up to $45 million, with $28.7 million fully guaranteed, making him the focal point of Kansas City's ground game. With Mahomes at the helm and Walker's dual-threat ability, the Chiefs' offense looks poised to add another dangerous weapon to an already formidable arsenal.
