The Kansas City Chiefs have enjoyed a productive offseason as they look to retool their roster following a surprising playoff absence in 2025. But while many areas have been addressed, one position still raises questions: wide receiver.
Currently, Patrick Mahomes' top targets include Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, and Tyquan Thornton, with Jalen Royals, Nikki Remigio, and Cyrus Allen rounding out the depth chart. It's a solid group, but is it enough for a team with Super Bowl aspirations?
Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox thinks not—and he's made a bold, some might say surprising, suggestion: the Chiefs should pursue Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro wideout A.J. Brown. Brown, a Super Bowl champion and one of the NFL's most dominant receivers, has been heavily linked to the New England Patriots in recent trade rumors. A move to Kansas City seems far less likely.
Let's consider the fit. The Chiefs already feature Rice, Worthy, and future Hall of Fame tight end Travis Kelce as primary pass-catchers, plus running back Kenneth Walker to anchor the ground game. Adding Brown would create a logjam at receiver—and we all know Brown's reputation for wanting a featured role. If he's not getting seven to eight targets per game, it's hard to imagine that going smoothly.
For a team that thrives on chemistry and ball distribution, this just doesn't add up. While the idea of Brown in red and gold is intriguing on paper, the reality is that Kansas City likely isn't the right destination—and fans shouldn't hold their breath for this blockbuster move.
