The Kansas City Chiefs have already made a massive splash this offseason by signing Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker to fix their struggling ground game. But now, a new name is swirling around Arrowhead Stadium: five-time Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara.
After losing both Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt, the Chiefs' backfield now features Walker and Brashard Smith. It's a solid foundation, but Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox has surprisingly linked KC as a potential suitor for the New Orleans Saints' star. On paper, it's a tantalizing thought—Kamara is a dual-threat monster who can dominate as both a runner and a pass-catcher.
However, don't get too excited just yet. The Saints recently traded for Travis Etienne, which sparked speculation, but all reports indicate Kamara is happy in New Orleans. In fact, he's previously stated he'd retire before playing for another team. A post-June 1 trade would only save the Saints about $7 million in cap space, according to Over The Cap, making a deal unlikely.
Still, imagining Kamara and Walker sharing the Chiefs' backfield is a dream scenario for fans. It's an interesting idea—just not a realistic one, at least for now.
