Two AFC West rivals are turning a family rivalry into a scouting opportunity. The Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos are both taking a close look at undrafted rookie quarterback E.J. Warner—the son of Hall of Famer and two-time NFL MVP Kurt Warner.

After trying out at the Chiefs' rookie minicamp over the weekend, Warner has now accepted an invitation to the Broncos' rookie camp this week. It's a rare chance for a young quarterback to get two different NFL evaluations back-to-back, thanks to the staggered schedule of rookie camps.

E.J. Warner took a winding path through college football, starting at Temple before transferring to Rice and finishing his career at Fresno State. He was a four-year starter, which is no small feat in today's transfer-heavy landscape. Over his collegiate career, he completed 61.6% of his passes for 10,844 yards, 71 touchdowns, and 48 interceptions. His final season at Fresno State was his most efficient, with a completion rate of 69.3%.

However, Warner's game comes with a notable red flag: he led his conference in interceptions in all four of his college seasons. He's also a pure pocket passer, having rushed for just two touchdowns in his entire college career. His best path to an NFL roster likely lies on a practice squad, where he can develop behind a veteran starter.

For a player like Warner, getting multiple looks from teams with elite offensive minds like Andy Reid and Sean Payton is a huge opportunity. Both the Chiefs and Broncos are known for developing quarterbacks, and Warner is hoping to prove he belongs in the league—just like his dad did on his way to the Hall of Fame.
