The Kansas City Chiefs selected Clemson Tigers defensive lineman Peter Woods with the No. 29 selection in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft to help fix veteran coordinator Steve Spagnuolo's pass-rush next season.
Woods will surely excel in his new role as Chris Jones' running mate, but there is a second aspect of the former Clemson standout's game that stands out as a potential boon for head coach Andy Reid's ailing Chiefs offense.
Last season, Woods was credited with two rushing touchdowns after seeing action as a gadget goal-line back in Dabo Swinney's new-look Tigers offense, a credit to the savvy defender's outstanding athleticism.

While Woods was busy finding paydirt at Clemson, veteran rusher Isiah Pacheco — who was Kansas City's starting running back in 12 games last year — only managed to score one rushing touchdown in 2025.
Pacheco was due for a change of scenery after Kansas City's failed 2025 regular-season campaign and joined the Detroit Lions in free agency.
