Sean Burke delivered a masterful performance on Saturday, tossing six shutout innings to lead the Chicago White Sox to a 4-0 victory over the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. The win extended Chicago's season-best winning streak to five games, bringing their record to 16-17.

Burke was in control from the start, allowing just four hits while striking out eight and walking one in an efficient 88-pitch outing. The sellout crowd of 42,758 watched as Burke followed up Noah Schultz's six scoreless innings from Friday night, giving the White Sox back-to-back dominant starting performances.

The right-hander's eight strikeouts marked a season high, with none bigger than his fifth-inning gem. With runners on first and second and one out, center fielder Tristan Peters made a spectacular running catch to rob Ramón Laureano of a hit. Burke then froze Fernando Tatis Jr. with a strikeout to escape the jam and keep the game scoreless.

The White Sox broke through in the sixth inning when third baseman Miguel Vargas delivered a two-run single. The rally started with Peters drawing a one-out walk, followed by Andrew Benintendi's bunt single down the third-base line. After Munetaka Murakami grounded out to first, advancing both runners, Vargas blooped a single to right field to bring them home.

Chicago added insurance in the seventh inning. Second baseman Chase Meidroth singled and moved to third on Sam Antonacci's double, the left fielder's second hit of the night. With the Padres playing their infield in, catcher Edgar Quero singled to right to score Meidroth, making it 3-0. Peters then executed a safety squeeze to bring home Antonacci and extend the lead to 4-0.

The ninth inning brought some drama, as the Padres loaded the bases with no outs. But reliever Grant Taylor struck out former White Sox first baseman Gavin Sheets looking, and closer Seranthony Domínguez entered to slam the door. Domínguez got Miguel Andujar to fly out to shallow right field before striking out Luis Campusano swinging to earn his eighth save of the season.
