The Chicago Bears are making smart moves to solidify their offensive line heading into the 2026 season. After a whirlwind offseason that saw veteran center Drew Dalman announce a shocking retirement, the Bears wasted no time reloading at the position. They traded for seasoned center Garrett Bradbury in a deal with the New England Patriots, sending a 2027 fifth-round pick the other way, and also added rookie Logan Jones in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Now, according to Spotrac, the Bears have restructured Bradbury's contract to better fit their salary cap plans. The veteran lineman had one year remaining on his deal, originally set to carry a $5.7 million cap hit. In the renegotiated one-year agreement, Bradbury will earn $4.7 million with $3.7 million fully guaranteed. Notably, the restructure converts $1 million in incentives into guaranteed money—a vote of confidence from the Bears' front office.

This move gives Chicago both financial flexibility and experienced depth at a critical position. Bradbury, known for his quick snap and solid pass protection, will likely compete with rookie Jones for the starting role in training camp. For Bears fans, it's a reassuring sign that the team is committed to protecting their quarterback and building a formidable offensive line for the 2026 campaign.
