Chelsea interim manager Calum McFarlane has delivered a much-needed injury boost ahead of Monday's Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest, confirming that both Reece James and Levi Colwill are "looking promising" for a return to action.

The Blues welcome Forest to Stamford Bridge for an 8pm kickoff, and fans will be eager to see their captain back in the mix. James has been sidelined since mid-March with a hamstring injury sustained against Newcastle United, while Colwill has missed the entire 2025/26 campaign due to a serious knee issue.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday, McFarlane shared an optimistic update: "Levi is back in training. Both looking good. Little bit of a way to the game so we'll see how they do day by day, but both are looking promising."

The interim boss emphasized a cautious approach, adding: "We're taking it day by day. Levi has had a long injury. Reece had a really good run and has been injured again. There's a lot of games still to play, so we don't want to push too much. Hopefully they'll come through."

When pressed on whether the duo could make the matchday squad against Forest, McFarlane kept the door open: "Potentially, yeah."

For Chelsea fans, this news offers a glimmer of hope as the team navigates a busy schedule. James' leadership and attacking threat from right-back, combined with Colwill's composure in defense, could provide a significant boost in the weeks ahead. As the Blues look to build momentum, all eyes will be on Stamford Bridge to see if these key players make their long-awaited returns.
