Big news is brewing in the transfer market as Chelsea emerge as one of the frontrunners circling for Darwin Nunez. The former Liverpool striker, currently at Al-Hilal, has reportedly reached an agreement with the Saudi club to part ways this summer.
Nunez's move to Al-Hilal last summer for €53m hasn't gone as planned. While he managed nine goals in 24 appearances, the Uruguayan was left out of the league squad for the second half of the 2025/26 season after Al-Hilal brought in Karim Benzema. Foreign-player limits forced the exclusion, though Nunez remained eligible for AFC Champions League matches.
Now, according to reports from El Observador Uruguay, Nunez is set for a fresh start. Chelsea are among several clubs circling, with Italian giants Juventus and AC Milan also showing interest. The Blues are on the hunt for a striker this summer, especially with Liam Delap tipped to leave.
Nunez knows the Premier League well from his time at Liverpool, where he scored 40 goals in 143 appearances and helped the Reds lift the Premier League title in 2024/25. He was allowed to move on last summer after Liverpool brought in Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike. Could a return to England be on the cards? Chelsea fans will be watching closely.
