Kansas baseball is in search of some momentum, as it’s now dealing with a four-game losing streak. But, where is it projected for the NCAA tournament?

Kansas baseball is hitting a rough patch at the worst possible time. After dropping a midweek game at Creighton and getting swept at home by West Virginia over the weekend, the Jayhawks are now staring at a four-game losing streak. That's a tough pill to swallow for a team that had been cruising through Big 12 play.

The numbers still look impressive on paper: KU sits at 37-15 overall and 20-7 in conference play, holding a slim one-game lead over West Virginia in the Big 12 standings. But that lead doesn't feel as safe as it did just a week ago. The Jayhawks have slipped to No. 17 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, while the Mountaineers jumped to No. 11.

So where does that leave Kansas in the NCAA tournament picture? With the regular season winding down and a crucial three-game series at BYU starting Thursday, the margin for error has gotten razor-thin. Here's what the latest projections are saying about the Jayhawks' postseason fate:

In one projection, Kansas is still a No. 1 seed hosting a regional at home. The four-team field would include Arkansas as the No. 2 seed, Western Carolina as No. 3, and St. Joseph's as No. 4. It's the kind of draw that would give the Jayhawks a real advantage—but they'll need to steady the ship to keep that hosting spot.

Another projection also has KU hosting as a No. 1 seed, this time with Nebraska (No. 2), Missouri State (No. 3), and SIU Edwardsville (No. 4) coming to Lawrence. Either way, it's clear the selection committee still sees enough in this team to expect a second straight NCAA tournament appearance.

But not every projection is so optimistic. One has Kansas sliding to a No. 2 seed in a regional hosted by Oregon State, alongside Gonzaga (No. 3) and Indiana State (No. 4). That's not where the Jayhawks wanted to be after such a strong season, but it's a reminder of how quickly things can change in college baseball.

For Kansas, this week's series at BYU isn't just about closing out the regular season strong. It's about proving they can bounce back, refind their momentum, and secure the kind of postseason path that matches their potential. The talent is there—now it's about execution when it matters most.
