Charles Leclerc has pointed out that it’s Lewis Hamilton’s approach, rather than his driving style, that has set him apart throughout his career. The two drivers have now been teammates at Ferrari for over a year.

Charles Leclerc has opened up about what truly sets Lewis Hamilton apart, and it's not what you might expect. After more than a year as teammates at Ferrari, Leclerc has discovered that the seven-time world champion's success comes down to something far deeper than raw speed.

While many expected fireworks when Hamilton joined the Scuderia, the 40-year-old's arrival has instead sparked a fascinating learning curve for his younger teammate. Leclerc, who dominated their first season together with seven podiums and over 60% of the team's points, admits the experience has been eye-opening.

"Since the day Lewis arrived in the team, for me it was a huge opportunity to learn from him," Leclerc told Sky Sports at the Miami Grand Prix. "I analysed every single thing he does as a preparation, all the way to when he jumps into the car."

The Monegasque driver revealed that while Hamilton's on-track data is useful, it's the champion's approach away from the cockpit that truly stands out. Max Verstappen had previously highlighted this last year in Miami, noting how Hamilton is often first to arrive at the circuit and among the last to leave.

"I would say with driving we've got our own strengths," Leclerc explained. "Sometimes I will look at him on a particular corner but that's more specific track-to-track. I think what made him have all his success in the past is more about his approach than just pure driving skills."

This season, the gap between the two Ferrari drivers has narrowed significantly, with Hamilton looking more competitive heading into 2026. But for Leclerc, the real victory has been gaining insight into the mindset of F1's most decorated driver. As the battle for supremacy within the team heats up, one thing is clear: Leclerc is taking notes, and he's determined to apply every lesson learned.
