The NFL dropped its full 2026 regular season schedule on Thursday night, and the New England Patriots found themselves in the crosshairs of the Los Angeles Chargers' famously creative schedule-release video. The Week 12 showdown, set for "Sunday Night Football" on Nov. 29, promises plenty of bad blood—and the Chargers wasted no time stirring the pot.

Known for their elaborate, video-game-style reveals, the Chargers took direct aim at Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel. In a sequence styled after the Halo video game series, a notification popped up reading, "NY Post sent you a message," alongside a background sign that read, "Next photo dump, 1 mile." The gag references the New York Post's leaked photos of Vrabel with NFL reporter Dianna Russini at an Arizona resort during this year's annual meetings—a story that made headlines and led to Russini's resignation from The Athletic. Vrabel, of course, remains firmly in place as New England's head coach.

But the jabs didn't stop there. The Chargers also took a shot at the Patriots' 2025 season, which saw New England ride a favorable strength of schedule to a 14-3 record and an AFC title. As the video revealed the Week 12 matchup, a message reading "Conquer the cupcakes" flashed on screen—a clear dig at the Patriots' relatively soft slate. And for good measure, the Chargers referenced their own Wild Card Round loss to New England with an "error page" that read, "Nothing to see here. Press X to skip this checkpoint. Ref. code 16-3."

Earlier Thursday, Front Office Sports' Michael McCarthy reported that the NFL wouldn't review teams' schedule-release videos before they went public—and he correctly predicted the Chargers would "weigh in" on the Vrabel situation. "The Chargers are masters at it," a source told McCarthy. "They don’t only take shots at teams; they take shots at individuals as well."

For Patriots fans, the message is clear: Vrabel and his team will have a chance to let their play do the talking when these two squads meet under the lights in late November. Until then, the Chargers have already set the tone for what promises to be a must-watch AFC clash.
