The Los Angeles Chargers are making a roster move today, signing wide receiver Monte’ Morrow while waiving long snapper Peter Bowden. The team announced the transaction on Thursday, adding a fresh face to their receiving corps.

Morrow joins the Bolts from Division II Upper Iowa University, where he suited up for the Peacocks. Standing at 6’4” and weighing 210 pounds, the pass catcher brings impressive size to the position. He’s coming off a standout season, hauling in 55 receptions for 1,007 yards—making him just the third player in school history to crack the 1,000-yard mark. His performance earned him First-Team All-GLVC honors and a Division II Honorable Mention All-American nod.

Earlier this offseason, Morrow showcased his athleticism at Iowa State’s Pro Day. He posted a 35-inch vertical jump and a 9’10” broad jump, with his 40-yard dash clocking in at 4.48 seconds. However, his agility drills were less impressive, recording a 4.62 short shuttle and a 7.64 three-cone time, suggesting he may be more of a straight-line threat.

This move feels familiar for Chargers fans. Much like last year’s addition of Dalevon Campbell, the team is taking a low-risk flyer on a small-school prospect with intriguing upside. If Morrow can develop his route-running and adjust to the NFL speed, he could emerge as a hidden gem in Los Angeles’ offense. For now, it’s a classic dart throw—one that could pay off big down the road.
