The Los Angeles Chargers added another piece to their offensive line, with the intention of protecting franchise quarterback Justin Herbert.
The Chargers used the 63rd overall pick to select Florida offensive lineman Jake Slaughter.
He was announced as a guard when his name was called by Chargers legend Shawne Merriman during the second round. Slaughter may see time at that position alongside Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater, but the rookie also can play center.
Slaughter started 33 of the 51 games he played in during his five years with the Gators.
