A Centennial Hawk has been voted by readers as the best boys basketball player in the area from the 2025-26 season.

When it comes to dominating on the court, few did it better this season than Centennial Hawk Anthony Eres. In a reader-driven poll that drew massive attention, Eres was voted the top boys basketball player in the Las Cruces area for the 2025-26 season—and the numbers prove it was no contest.

Facing 29 nominees from powerhouse programs including Mayfield, Organ Mountain, Las Cruces, Mesilla Valley Christian, Gadsden, Santa Teresa, Chaparral, and Hatch Valley, Eres earned an impressive 59.89% of the vote. That translated to 22,282 total votes, leaving the competition in the dust. Centennial teammate Koulie Tou finished second with 8,562 votes, while Mesilla Valley Christian's Cameron Evaro rounded out the top three with 5,064 votes. The poll ran from April 14 to May 3.

Eres, a junior, put together a standout season that went beyond fan appreciation. Averaging 9.3 points per game, he ranked third among the Hawks and delivered double-digit scoring in 14 games. His season highlight came on Jan. 20 when he dropped 20 points against Alamogordo. But it was his 16-point performance against Las Cruces on Feb. 20 that really turned heads—fueling a 65-53 win that clinched the regular-season District 3-5A championship for Centennial.

Consistency was key for Eres, who played in all 29 games for the Hawks. He shot 43% from the field and finished the season with 271 points, 45 rebounds, 37 steals, 14 assists, and one block. His all-around effort earned him an honorable mention on the 2025-26 Las Cruces Sun-News Boys Basketball Super Team, making him one of four Centennial players to receive the honor.

Whether you're gearing up for your own big game or just want to rep the Hawks, take a page from Anthony Eres's playbook: stay sharp, stay consistent, and let your game do the talking. From the court to the stands, the right gear can help you play your best—and Centennial fans know what it takes to come out on top.
