The Boston Celtics head to Philadelphia for a pivotal Game 3 on Friday night.
After a statement Game 1 win at TD Garden, the 76ers evened the series with a double-digit win of their own in Game 2. Despite Jaylen Brown pouring in a game-high 36 points, the Celtics struggled to find their rhythm from deep, shooting a dismal 26% on 50 attempts from three-point range. Jayson Tatum notched a double-double with 19 points and 14 boards, but Joe Mazzulla’s squad will need more scoring punch from the backcourt after Derrick White and Payton Pritchard were held to a combined 12 points on Tuesday.
The defensive priority for the C's tonight will be cooling off Philly’s hot hands. In the Game 2 loss, Boston allowed 19 triples, including six from rookie VJ Edgecombe and timely buckets from Tyrese Maxey. With the series shifting to the Xfinity Mobile Arena and Joel Embiid (appendectomy) still listed as doubtful, the Celtics have a prime opportunity to reclaim home-court control.
