Celtic are setting their sights on one of the Scottish Premiership's brightest talents, with Tawanda Maswanhise topping their wishlist for the 2026/27 season, according to Football Insider. The 23-year-old Zimbabwean forward has been a revelation for Motherwell this year, leading the league's scoring charts with 17 goals in 32 starts, plus two assists. His blistering form has caught the eye of scouts across the country, and former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown has shed light on why Celtic are so keen.

Brown explained that Celtic naturally monitor anyone performing at such a high level in Scotland. Given the challenge of luring players from overseas leagues, targeting proven talent already thriving in the Premiership is a smart move. "They don't have to worry about whether he will adapt or be prepared to make the move," Brown noted. Plus, signing a player who knows the league inside out reduces risk and keeps the price tag reasonable—a key consideration for any club.

Motherwell, for their part, have confirmed they're open to offers for Maswanhise, acknowledging that holding onto their stars when the Old Firm comes calling is nearly impossible. Born in November 2002, the forward is under contract until 2027, giving Celtic a solid window to negotiate this summer. The Steelmen are reportedly seeking around £4 million, but with English Championship sides and Rangers also circling, it's shaping up to be a fierce battle for his signature.

Maswanhise's pace and finishing ability have made him a standout, but questions remain about whether he can find space against teams that park the bus—a point raised by former Celtic man Peter Grant. Still, for a Celtic side looking to strengthen their attacking options, adding a player who's already proven in the Scottish game could be the perfect solution. As the summer transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on this rising star and where his next chapter unfolds.
