In a thrilling Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden Park, Celtic showcased their fighting spirit with a dramatic 3-2 extra-time victory over Glasgow City, booking their place in the final.

The Hoops came into this match with something to prove after a challenging midweek league encounter against the same opponents, where they played 45 minutes with just 10 players. And from the opening whistle, it was clear this would be no walk in the park.

Glasgow City came flying out of the gates, putting Celtic under immediate pressure. The Hoops defense was forced into early scrambling clearances as City pushed forward with intent. By the 12th minute, goalkeeper Adelaide Gay was called into action, tipping a Lisa Evans strike from the edge of the box over the bar. The resulting corner saw more danger, with Emily Whelan firing from six yards out, only for Tara O'Hanlon to throw herself in front of the shot.

City continued to press, launching another attack down the right flank five minutes later, but the Celtic backline held firm, clearing the danger before it could reach the box.

It took until the 25th minute for Celtic to create their first clear-cut chance. Saoirse Noonan played a clever ball over the top for Poppy Pritchard inside the area, but City managed to snuff out the danger, conceding only a corner. And from that set-piece, the breakthrough arrived. Amy Gallacher swung the ball into the box, and Noonan rose to glance a header to the far post, nestling it into the net to give Grant Scott's side a 1-0 lead.

That goal injected fresh belief into Celtic. They began to find their rhythm, causing City's defense all sorts of problems with their attacking movement. Just before the break, Noonan and Pritchard combined again inside the box, with Pritchard cutting the ball back for the Irish striker, but this time City's defense stood firm to block the effort and clear.

The second half saw Glasgow City come out with renewed determination, pushing forward in search of an equalizer. They caused problems down Celtic's left flank, but the Hoops dealt admirably with the crosses coming into the box. On the hour mark, Gallacher lifted a ball over the top for Pritchard, but the City goalkeeper rushed out to snuff out the opportunity.

As the clock ticked down, the tension at Hampden was palpable. With the match hanging in the balance, it would take extra time to separate these two Scottish giants. In the end, Celtic's never-say-die attitude and clinical finishing proved the difference, securing their place in the Scottish Cup final and keeping their dreams of silverware alive.
