Samoa international Mat Feagai will join Castlesford for the 2027 season on a three-year deal from St George Illawarra Dragons.

Castleford Tigers have pulled off another major signing, securing Samoa international Mat Feagai on a three-year deal that will see him join the Super League club for the 2027 season. The 25-year-old outside-back arrives from St George Illawarra Dragons, where he spent six seasons in the NRL, racking up 27 tries in 74 appearances.

Feagai becomes the second Dragons player to commit to Castleford, following hooker Damien Cook, whose signing was announced earlier this month. The double swoop signals a clear intent from the Tigers to strengthen their squad for the future.

"It's really exciting," Feagai told the club website. "I've had good chats with Chris [Chester, director of rugby] and Carry [head coach Ryan Carr], and they sold me on it pretty early. I can't wait to get over there and play for Castleford. There's definitely something building into the future, and I'm glad to be a part of it."

Feagai brings international pedigree to the Tigers, having represented Samoa in the 2022 Rugby League World Cup, where he scored a try in a memorable victory over Greece. His pace and power in the backline are expected to add a new dimension to Castleford's attack.

Head coach Ryan Carr is clearly excited about the addition. "Mat is a really talented player, and we're excited about what he can bring to the group," Carr said. "We believe we can help unlock the best in him, and just as importantly, he's a really good person who'll fit into our culture well."

Currently sitting 13th in Super League after 10 matches, Castleford are just four points adrift of seventh-placed Leigh Leopards and eighth-placed Catalan Dragons. Director of rugby Chris Chester emphasized that these high-profile signings reflect the club's ambition. "I'd like to put on record my thanks to the Martin and the board of directors at our great club for the continued support and investment in the playing squad for 2027. Without this, signings of this quality would not be able to happen."

For Tigers fans, the message is clear: the future is bright, and the pieces are being put in place for a strong push in the years ahead.
