The Oshkosh and Fond du Lac Athlete of the Week poll is officially open for the week of May 4–May 10, and your vote matters! Cast your ballot now through noon on Friday, May 15, to celebrate the standout performances from area athletes in baseball, boys golf, girls soccer, softball, and boys and girls track and field.
This week’s nominees delivered jaw-dropping moments on the field and track. In baseball, Birschbach went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, a home run, and two RBIs to lead his team past Appleton West. Braun dominated on the mound, tossing a five-inning no-hitter with seven strikeouts against Poynette. Muehrer also shined, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs in a win over Appleton East, while Otto collected four hits—including three doubles—and two RBIs in a loss to West Bend West. Schwarz added a triple, double, and an RBI in a loss to West Bend East.
On the soccer pitch, Schwefel netted three goals in a victory over North Fond du Lac, and Stauffacher contributed a goal and an assist in a 3-0 shutout of Plymouth.
In track and field, the action was electric. Faber swept the 400 meters (1:04.39), 800 meters (2:44.29), and pole vault (8-6) at the Waupun Warrior Prison City Invite. Fink claimed first in both the 100-meter hurdles (19.74) and 300-meter hurdles (52.27) at the Lourdes Trailways Duals. Joachim blazed to wins in the 100 meters (11.24) and 200 meters (23.16) at the Omro Flyway Quad. Wenzelow took top honors in the 800 meters (1:57.30) and 1,600 meters (4:28.32) at the Lourdes Academy Knight Under the Lights, while Yaggie doubled up with wins in the 110-meter hurdles (15.62) and 300-meter hurdles (41.33) at the same meet.
