The Carolina Hurricanes are making the most of their downtime between playoff rounds—and for two players, that time off has been nothing short of life-changing.

After sweeping the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round, the 'Canes returned to the ice Tuesday morning following a well-deserved two-day break. The team wrapped up Game 4 late Saturday night, giving them just enough time to fly back to Raleigh for Mother's Day.

"That was my only gift for her," joked captain Jordan Staal with a grin. "It was nice to hang out with the family."

But for defensemen K'Andre Miller and Sean Walker, the break between series meant something even more special. Both players became first-time fathers during the second-round matchup, adding a whole new layer of excitement to an already intense playoff run.

Miller and his wife welcomed a baby boy on May 2, while Walker and his wife celebrated the arrival of a baby girl on May 8. For both players, it's their first child—and the timing couldn't be more memorable.

"It's a pretty cool experience," Miller shared, clearly still soaking in the joy. "Obviously a lot of guys in the room have kids, so we've had a lot of—I call them 'therapy talks.' I know we're both excited to be dads."

With the Eastern Conference Final on the horizon, the Hurricanes will face either the Montreal Canadiens or the Buffalo Sabres. But for now, Miller and Walker are enjoying a different kind of victory lap—and a little extra time at home with their growing families.
