The Springfield Cardinals' inaugural homestand of the 2026 Texas League season ended on a sour note Sunday, capped by a 7-2 loss to the Tulsa Drillers that extended their losing streak to five games.

After a red-hot 4-0 start that had fans buzzing, the momentum has completely reversed. The team managed a pair of late runs in the finale, but it was too little, too late against a surging Drillers squad.

The slide has real standings implications. Springfield now finds itself in second-to-last place in the Texas League North Division with a 4-5 record, looking up at a Tulsa team riding a five-game win streak to a 7-2 division lead.

Sometimes a change of scenery is the best remedy for a slump. The Cardinals hit the road for a six-game series in Wichita, where 2025 Manager of the Year Patrick Anderson will look to rally his squad and rediscover their early-season winning form.
