Katrina Gorry, who will leave West Ham when her contract expires next month, says captaining the side has been "the greatest honour".

Katrina Gorry, the captain of West Ham United, has announced she will leave the club when her contract expires at the end of June. The 33-year-old Australian international, who joined the Women's Super League (WSL) side in January 2024, has made over 50 appearances for the Hammers. Her final match will be against WSL champions Manchester City this Saturday.

While West Ham offered Gorry a new contract, the midfielder chose to decline, citing the best interests of her family. "It's an emotional time to be leaving West Ham, but I know this is the right decision for me and my family," Gorry said. "I've enjoyed so many incredible moments over the last two and a half years, and captaining this team has been the greatest honour."

Gorry has been a powerful voice off the pitch, using her platform to discuss motherhood in women's football, eating disorders, and her journey through IVF. "West Ham is a special club with an incredible fanbase that always shows up," she added. "The fans have seen so much growth, and I'm proud to have been part of that journey. I came here with a two-year-old daughter, and I'm leaving east London with an even bigger family. I leave a better person and a better player, and for that I'll always be grateful."

During her tenure, Gorry played a key role in West Ham's record-breaking 2023-24 season, featuring in every WSL match as the team achieved its highest-ever points tally. This season, she has made 18 appearances across all competitions and helped Australia reach the Women's Asian Cup final.

Manager Rita Guarino, who joined the club in December, praised Gorry's impact: "It has been a pleasure to work with Mini during my time at West Ham. Her experience, resilience, and desire to win have been a real asset to the club and have helped drive this team forward."

As Gorry prepares for her final bow in claret and blue, her legacy as a leader, advocate, and fan favorite at West Ham is already secure.
