In other National Women's Soccer League matches, the Utah Royals beat Angel City FC 1-0 on the road and the Kansas City Current edged the host North Carolina Courage 2-1. After a 90-minute weather delay, Washington wasted no time.

In a thrilling display of resilience and firepower, the Washington Spirit weathered a 90-minute weather delay and then exploded out of the gates to secure a 4-2 victory over the Orlando Pride on Saturday, extending their winning streak to four games. Sofia Cantore was the star of the show, netting two early goals that set a new NWSL record for the fastest brace in league history.

The match got off to a lightning-quick start once play finally resumed. Trinity Rodman, who has been in scintillating form, set up Cantore for a strike from outside the box just two minutes in. Five minutes later, the duo combined again, with Cantore dribbling past goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse to slot home her second. The two goals, scored just 5:27 apart, shattered the previous record set by Uchenna Kanu in 2024 by a full 13 seconds.

Orlando, however, refused to roll over. Golden Boot leader Barbra Banda drew a penalty in the box, but Spirit goalkeeper Sandy MacIver came up with a huge save to deny Ally Lemos from the spot. Undeterred, Banda scored from the ensuing corner kick and then completed her first-half brace in the 39th minute to level the score at 2-2.

The second half belonged to Washington. Paraguayan international Claudia Martínez, making her first NWSL start, put the Spirit back in front in the 55th minute with her second goal of the season. Rodman then put the game to bed in the 70th minute, scoring for the third consecutive match to seal the victory. Despite Banda's second straight two-goal performance, the Pride have now dropped both contests.

Elsewhere in the NWSL, the Utah Royals continued their impressive run, defeating Angel City FC 1-0 on the road for their fourth straight win. Captain Paige Cronin delivered a pinpoint cross to Cloé Lacasse, who headed home the game's only goal in the 32nd minute. The match took a turn in first-half stoppage time when Maiara Niehues received a direct red card for violent conduct, leaving Angel City to play the entire second half a player down. Royals goalkeeper Mandy McGlynn, making her first start of the 2026 season, earned the clean sheet.

In another tight contest, the Kansas City Current edged the host North Carolina Courage 2-1, rounding out a weekend of compelling NWSL action that showcased the league's growing depth and talent.
