Logan Stankoven scored twice and the Carolina Hurricanes opened their playoff series against the Philadelphia Flyers with a 3-0 victory.

The Carolina Hurricanes kicked off their Eastern Conference semifinal series with a statement performance, blanking the Philadelphia Flyers 3-0 on Saturday night in Raleigh. If you're a fan of dominant hockey—or just love seeing a team in full control—this was the game for you.

Logan Stankoven continued his scorching postseason, lighting the lamp twice to lead the charge. The 23-year-old sensation has now scored in five consecutive playoff games, setting a new NHL record for the youngest player to achieve that feat. He wasted no time getting started, deflecting a point shot from defenseman Reilly just 91 seconds into the game. It's the fourth time in Carolina's five playoff contests that Stankoven has opened the scoring—talk about setting the tone.

Jackson Blake doubled the lead six minutes later with a dazzling individual effort, weaving through defenders before tucking the puck home for his second goal of the postseason. At that point, the Flyers had managed only a single shot on goal, and the Hurricanes were already in cruise control.

Goaltender Frederik Andersen was rock-solid between the pipes, stopping all 19 shots he faced for his second shutout of these playoffs and the seventh of his postseason career. The Hurricanes' defensive structure has been a hallmark of their game, and Andersen has been the perfect last line of defense.

Stankoven put the game out of reach late in the second period, capitalizing on a turnover. Seth Jarvis fed him a crisp pass in the slot, and Stankoven buried it with 3:44 left in the frame. From there, the Hurricanes rode their lead home, even as the game got chippy with a series of misconducts in the third period.

For the Flyers, goaltender Dan Vladar did his part with 20 saves, but Philadelphia couldn't generate enough offense to crack Carolina's stingy defense. They'll look to regroup when the series resumes Monday night in Raleigh.

The Hurricanes, who finished atop the Eastern Conference standings in the regular season, have yet to trail in these playoffs. With their speed, depth, and red-hot goaltending, they look every bit the championship contender. And for fans who love the energy of playoff hockey, this series is just getting started.
