Can United put an end to their woes vs. Forest?

Can Manchester United finally break their recent struggles against Nottingham Forest? The Red Devils are all but guaranteed a third-place finish in the Premier League, sitting nine points behind Manchester City and comfortably ahead of Liverpool and Aston Villa. With a spot in next season's UEFA Champions League already secured, United head into this match with little pressure—but plenty of pride on the line.

Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, have had a rollercoaster of a season. Just a week ago, Nuno Espírito Santo's side was riding high on a five-match winning streak. But Aston Villa brought them crashing back to earth with a 4-0 thrashing in Birmingham. Forest bounced back quickly, though, earning a dramatic draw against Newcastle after Harvey Barnes scored in the 74th minute, only for Elliot Anderson to level the score in the 88th minute against his boyhood club. That result, combined with other matches, secured Forest's top-flight status for next season.

Now safe from relegation, Forest are playing purely for pride. They sit five points above the relegation zone, with West Ham and Tottenham fighting to avoid the drop. The Tricky Trees will look to extend their impressive form against a United side they've historically struggled against.

Recent history favors United—Erik ten Hag's men won 3-0 in their first meeting in nearly 24 years, then followed up with two more wins to reach the 2022/23 EFL Cup Final. They also secured a thrilling 3-2 comeback win at the City Ground after falling behind 2-0 within four minutes, with goals from Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, and Bruno Fernandes. But Forest finally broke that streak, taking the lead through Nico Williams in their last meeting. Can United restore order, or will Forest continue to make life difficult for the Red Devils?
