The draft offers renewed optimism for both parties, as they feel any of these picks, especially those made in the first three rounds, could be a game-changer. These are the players you feel can tip the scales in your favor, put you over the hump, or at the very least provide some playmaking. However, not every draft pick works out for fans and the teams; in fact, more often than not, they do not.
And with emotions all over the place, we wanted to answer a question that dozens, if not hundreds, of mock drafts can answer: What will the Bucs do?
History can help us predict what Bucs general manager Jason Licht may do in the NFL Draft. That history suggests he will draft the player he believes is best on the board, often ignoring team needs. He has drafted based on team needs in the past, but ironically, those are picks that have not always worked out, such as O.J. Howard or Devin White.
Fast forward to the present, the team has some needs at linebacker and edge rusher, but picking at 15, the value may not be there to address those needs. Instead, there could be a player at cornerback or on the offensive line who fits the top of their draft board, while fixing a smaller need.
Fans may not get a flashy pick on Thursday, but they could get a safe one.
