The Arizona Cardinals are entering a new era under head coach Mike LaFleur, and the biggest question on everyone's mind is: who will be under center when the team takes the field in 2026? The Cardinals have loaded up on quarterback options, bringing in seasoned veterans Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew, while also investing in the future with third-round draft pick Carson Beck from Miami.
Beck may be a rookie, but he's no stranger to the spotlight. After a stellar five-year career at Georgia, he transferred to Miami for the 2025 season and put up impressive numbers: 3,813 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, and a 72.4% completion rate. More importantly, Beck led the Hurricanes all the way to the national championship game, proving he can deliver in high-pressure moments.
Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort is confident that Beck's extensive college experience will ease his transition to the NFL. "When you see a player who has had big-game experience, there's more hope that it's not going to be too big for them," Ossenfort told ESPN's Josh Weinfuss. "It's not going to be a deer in the headlights."
Still, Ossenfort is taking a patient approach. "We've got two guys that have played and started a lot of games in the NFL in Jacoby and Gardner," he said. "We'll add him in here and see how much he can handle. In the end, the guy who's gonna give us the best chance to win—that's who's gonna be out there on Sundays."
With Brissett and Minshew providing a steady veteran presence, the competition is wide open. Beck's poise and playmaking ability could make him a dark horse candidate to start early, but the Cardinals are letting the battle play out organically. For now, all eyes are on training camp to see if this rookie can rise above the rest and claim the starting job.
