Caleb Lomu's journey from viral sensation to New England Patriot took another turn on Thursday, as the Utah offensive tackle addressed the now-famous dance clip that had social media buzzing after his first-round selection in last month's NFL Draft.

When the Patriots grabbed Lomu with the 28th overall pick, the typical draft analysis followed—scheme fit, positional projections, and depth chart implications. But it was a 10-second promo clip aired on ESPN that truly captured the spotlight, showing Lomu breaking into an impromptu dance that quickly spread across the internet.

Standing at the podium during his official introduction at Gillette Stadium, Lomu gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at how that moment actually came together—and admitted it wasn't exactly his finest hour.

"That was an interesting moment," Lomu said with a wry smile. "It was at the Combine, during all that media stuff. They put me up on a stage with a bunch of other guys, cameras everywhere, and said, 'Alright, for 10 seconds just do whatever, we're filming you.' I asked, 'What should I do?' and they just said, 'Whatever you want.'"

What seemed like a one-and-done moment turned into a marathon. "They made me do it four different times," Lomu recalled. "They had me walk from the back of the stage to the front, doing the exact same thing, over and over. I hated it in that moment. But I figured, 'I'm up here, I'll just let my body do whatever it does.' There's no deep backstory—it was just what I was feeling at the time."

Lomu laughed as he added, "Of course, they decided to use that as the dance they posted. It was not my best work, but it was something."

While the dance may have won him viral fame, the Patriots are banking on his performance where it truly counts: on the gridiron. Lomu will get his first chance to prove that point this weekend, as New England's rookie minicamp kicks off at Gillette Stadium from Friday through Sunday. That's where the real work begins—and where the Patriots hope to see Lomu's best moves yet.
