Riccardo Calafiori's dream season just got a whole lot sweeter. The Italy international defender has helped Arsenal punch their ticket to the UEFA Champions League Final, and he couldn't be more thrilled about it.
"What a dream," Calafiori wrote on Instagram, posting a photo from Arsenal's tense 1-0 semifinal second-leg victory over Atletico Madrid on Tuesday. The former Bologna and Roma man started the match before being replaced by Piero Hincapié in the 58th minute.
For a player who has worked his way through Serie A, this moment carries extra weight. Calafiori has been a steady presence for the Gunners this season, contributing one goal and three assists in 33 appearances across all competitions. But it's the collective achievement that has him buzzing.
"It's something huge," Calafiori told Sky Sport after the match. "I think 20 years ago was the last time. We deserved it. We play for everything now—the league title and the Champions League. We have full energy."
And he's not exaggerating. Arsenal currently sit atop the Premier League table, and winning their final four matches would secure a historic double—a feat that would cement this squad's legacy. For Calafiori, the journey from Udine to the European summit feels almost surreal.
"I've been thinking about it since the beginning of the season, to be honest," he admitted. "It's like a dream now, and I hope it becomes true."
With the Champions League Final on the horizon and the Premier League title race heating up, Arsenal fans have every reason to believe their Italian star's dream is about to become reality.
