The Coyotes ran a meet record of 44.48 seconds to avenge a loss to Fullerton Rosary last week at the Arcadia Invitational.

Redemption was the name of the game for the Calabasas girls' 4x100 relay team this weekend. Just one week after a narrow defeat, the Coyotes roared back with a statement victory at the prestigious 66th Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut.

In a thrilling rematch against Fullerton Rosary, Calabasas didn't just win—they made history. The quartet of Marley Scoggins, Malia Rainey, Devyn Sproles, and Olivia Kirk blazed to a time of 44.48 seconds, setting a new meet record and avenging their loss at the Arcadia Invitational.

"Taking that 'L' last week gave us motivation," said senior captain Marley Scoggins, who set the tone with a powerful opening leg. "We didn't like that feeling."

Head coach Jeff Clanagan played a strategic masterstroke, altering the relay order to gain a psychological edge. He moved the explosive starter Scoggins to the lead-off position, a change kept secret until the team stepped onto the track. The goal was simple: build an early lead and force the competition to play catch-up.

The strategy worked to perfection. Scoggins, a Tennessee commit, established a strong start that her teammates maintained. This victory was particularly sweet after Rosary had broken the California state record (44.23) the previous week, edging out Calabasas's own impressive 44.54.

For anchor leg Olivia Kirk, a future Oklahoma Sooner, the win was a testament to the team's resilience. "The girls gave me a lead like they always do," Kirk said. "The key was our determination. We knew we didn't run our best last week."

With Rosary finishing second in 44.94, the Coyotes have reignited one of the season's most exciting high school track rivalries. More importantly, they've proven that a setback can be the perfect setup for a record-breaking comeback.
