In a defining moment that cements his status as basketball's next superstar, Cade Cunningham delivered a playoff performance for the ages, single-handedly willing the Detroit Pistons past a tenacious Orlando Magic squad in a thrilling seven-game first-round series.

When the Pistons found themselves staring down a 3-1 series deficit, the season seemed all but over. The Magic had proven to be a nightmare matchup—one of the few teams capable of matching Detroit's suffocating defense and physical brand of basketball. But Cunningham refused to let his team fade quietly into the offseason.

What followed was nothing short of legendary. Over the final three elimination games, Cunningham poured in a staggering 109 points, tying an NBA record shared with LeBron James (2016 Finals) and Jamal Murray (2020 first round) for most points in Games 5-7 while overcoming a 3-1 deficit. His Game 7 masterpiece featured 32 points, 12 assists, and four three-pointers, making him the first player in league history to record at least 30 points, 10 assists, two blocks, and two threes in a winner-take-all contest.

The numbers tell only part of the story. For the series, Cunningham averaged 32.4 points, 7.1 assists, and 5.7 rebounds—making him one of just two players (alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander) to average 30 points in the first round. More impressively, the Pistons outscored Orlando by 49 points with Cunningham on the floor, while getting outscored by 16 when he sat.

In Game 6, with the Magic leading by as many as 24 points and threatening to become just the seventh No. 8 seed to upset a No. 1 seed, Cunningham outscored Orlando single-handedly down the stretch, 24-19. It was the kind of takeover that separates good players from true superstars.

For a Pistons team that leaned heavily on its young leader, this series was a coming-out party. Cunningham has officially arrived, and Detroit's championship aspirations just got a whole lot more real.
