BYU Basketball Schedules Series with Utah State

Big news for college basketball fans in the Beehive State: BYU and Utah State are renewing their rivalry with a two-game series that promises plenty of excitement. The Cougars and Aggies will face off on December 9, 2026, at the Marriott Center in Provo, followed by a 2027 showdown at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. This marks the first meeting between the two programs since 2021, and BYU enters on a hot streak, having won the last 10 matchups.

For the 2027 game in Salt Lake City, Utah State has announced a 50/50 ticket split between the schools, ensuring a lively atmosphere in the neutral-site venue. This series adds serious juice to BYU's non-conference schedule, which is already shaping up to be a gauntlet. The Cougars will open the season against Ohio State in Salt Lake City, face San Diego State in Palm Springs, and participate in the Maui Invitational over Thanksgiving. The game against Utah State in Provo gives fans a marquee home non-conference matchup—something that was notably missing last season.

Utah State is no slouch, either. The Aggies have made the NCAA Tournament four straight seasons and will bring a Quad 1/Quad 2 opportunity to BYU's schedule. Next season, Utah State joins the Pac-12 and returns Mountain West Player of the Year Mason Falslev and MWC Sixth Man of the Year Karson Templin. While Gonzaga is expected to be the Pac-12 favorite, Utah State projects as a tournament team vying for a single-digit seed. For BYU, this series is a chance to bolster its resume early, while fans get to enjoy a fierce in-state rivalry renewed on the hardwood.
